1. Overview

Facemap provides facial geometry analysis. This policy explains what data we process, where it is processed, and the choices you have. A short, plain-language summary is available on our privacy promise page.

2. Free scans: on-device processing

Free scans are performed entirely in your web browser. When you use your camera or upload a photo for a free scan, the image is processed locally on your device using on-device machine learning models, including Google's MediaPipe Face Landmarker.

Free scan photographs are never transmitted to our servers, never stored by us, and never used to train any AI model. We store only anonymous numbered geometric measurements from a free scan, with no image attached, so we can track anonymous measurement trends over time. Analysis output from a free scan is held in your browser session only and is cleared when you close or refresh the page.

3. Data we do not collect for free scans

For a free scan we do not require an account, a password, or payment details. We do not receive or retain your photograph, we do not receive the individual landmark coordinates produced on your device, and the anonymous measurements we store cannot be linked back to your image.

4. Purchased reports

If you purchase a full report, we collect the information needed to process payment and deliver the report to you, such as your email address and the report data itself. Your image is used to generate the personalised report and is stored securely so you can access it. Payment card details are processed by our payment provider and are never stored by us.

Purchased report data is retained so that you can access your report. You may request deletion of your report data at any time by contacting us.

5. Technical and usage data

Like most websites, we may collect standard technical information such as browser type, device type, approximate region, and pages visited. This information is used to operate, secure, and improve the service and is not linked to your scan images.

6. AI training

We never use your photographs or scan data to train, fine-tune, or improve machine learning models, whether our own or those of any third party.

7. Security

All connections to Facemap are encrypted using HTTPS. Access to any data we do hold is restricted and limited to what is necessary to operate the service.

8. Sharing and third parties

We do not sell personal data and we do not share scan data with advertisers. Share cards are generated on your device and are only shared when you choose to share them through your device's own sharing features.

We use a small number of service providers to operate the site, such as hosting and payment processing, who process data only as needed to provide their service to us.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and revise the date below. Material changes will be highlighted on the site.
